AMCA history

Where were you 25 years ago?
Because then the foundation was laid of what later would develop into one of the most leading R/C car racing clubs of the Netherlands.

The beginning
The origin for the arise of what later would will be called the AMCA is when Ben Veeneman, founder the AMCA, gave an inversion to his R/C air modelling hobby and started with radiographic controlled cars. An inversion motivated by his son Jeroen. Already rapidly a multitude of friends stood up and parents who enjoyed very much the sound of a fuel found car on a parking place. A club was formed and soon “the group of Apeldoorn” arose.

The passion for R/C car racing went very far. No parking place was missed. On the Philips area, at the Makro, in factory halls, even it went this far that the highway A50, which was still under construction was declared as the racing track of “the group of Apeldoorn"..

This “group of Apeldoorn” was already rapidly known and "was feared" on regional open club races.

THE AMCA association a fact

17 October 1980. On this day the A.M.C.A. A.M.C.A.; Auto Modelbouw Club Apeldoorn became fact at the notary. The governing board members: President is Veeneman, Secretary Wim Hendriks, Treasurer Mr. Mendel and extra board members John Langen and Mr. Akkema.

Now the club can statutory further with the municipality of Apeldoorn looking for to a fixed place for the AMCA. The municipality provides a license for a semi-permanent location in the Sportpark Orderbos on 2 June 1981. For Fl. 7.90 per hour! For only a parking place!! But canteen facilities of the local athletics association, was included.

The AMCA build further on its future. In order to be able to rapidly assemble and disassemble the race facilities on the Sportpark Orderbos, a moveable race control room annex drivers stand was invented with as a basis a Mercedes bus.

The AMCA circuit arises
After years of a weekly lobby at the municipal of Apeldoorn, in 1987came finally a possibility of looking at a former industrial area at Kanaal-Zuid. The heavily neglected area offers a disconsolate sight. Anyway the AMCA'ers seize their chance

.

In the following months it is hard work was done. With help of all members, and many sponsors, the realisation of a dream, the real home bases for the AMCA!

Ben Veeneman exploits all talents of the AMCA members. Electro technicians, welders, carpenters, computer experts, CAD/cam draftsmen, Central Heating fitters, even a dentist is present amongst the members!!

The AMCA stands on the world map!

Hard work and being convinced of ourselves have given the Auto Modelbouw Club Apeldoorn, AMCA a definite place in the international model motor sport. National and international top drivers define the AMCA track as of the most authoritative and representative tracks in Europe. Numerous large events such as European and World championships have taken place on the AMCA track in Apeldoorn.
